RUTGERS, SIOR
TEAM UP FOR STUDY
The New Jersey Chapter of
the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR) is
joining forces with the Edward J. Bloustein School of
Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University to
create an annual trend study. Expected topics will
include major changes impacting the commercial real
estate market in the Garden State, with a focus on
outside forces that affect occupancy of buildings.
Those forces will include a list of everything from
labor and logistics, to the State's traffic patterns,
technology demand, environmental issues, tenant overflow
from New York City, and competing markets.
"We're joining forces to analyze many of the ongoing
trends that impact the current and future status of the
commercial real estate market in New Jersey," says Chris
Marx, former president of SIOR's New Jersey chapter,
who's also a senior managing director at Studley.
Marx will oversee the project for NJ-SIOR, along with
2006 chapter president Scott Peck, who's also a senior
vice president at Resource Realty, and George Malloy,
SIOR Northeast Regional Director, also a senior managing
director at Studley.
On the Rutgers/Bloustein
side, the project will be directed by Dr. James W.
Hughes, dean of the school, and university professor Dr.
Joseph J. Seneca. Results of the initial trend
study will be released this spring at a formal
presentation on the Rutgers campus in New Brunswick
